ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS
This exchange uses the academic setting as a vehicle for exploring and comparing our cultures.  What makes this exchange different than other trips is that the time spent in school, evening meetings, and small assignments completed at school all allow students to leave Denmark with a great understanding of the society in which they have just immersed themselves.
PRE-ARRIVAL MEETINGS
Before the Danish students arrive we will have a series of evening meetings. These meetings are intended to introduce the East and West students with one another and include topics such as American identity, appreciating cultural differences, and Danish and American current events among other things.
PRE-DEPARTURE MEETINGS
After a few months we will reconvene prior to our departure for Denmark. The focus of these meetings is to help students prepare for entering a new culture. We will discuss Danish current events and investigate the features that make our two countries similar, but also those that are different between us.
SCHOOLWORK ON THE EXCHANGE
We fully expect students to stay up to date on their studies while in Denmark. There will be time set aside for them to complete assignments during the Danish leg of the exchange.
EXCHANGE PROJECTS
We wan the students to make sense of the exchange in a meaningful way. While in Denmark students will work collaboratively with their partners. Students will also complete blog entries about their perceptions of National Identity in relation to the exchange.
